We are half way through our winter season based in the hall and in this update, we have all the details to bring us to the start of the summer season. Please print off this letter and pin it up somewhere so you have easy access to all the dates. There is a lot of information contained here, so please Scouts and Parent, set a few minutes aside to thoroughly read through it.
Ventures
Ventures are meeting on Friday evenings in the Hall at 7:45: Please keep an eye on Facebook & WhatsApp to see what is happening.
Floorball
The floorball league will resume Feb 21st. Matches will be held after the hall meetings, usually finishing up by 9.30. Please make sure that your parents know which nights you are playing, or if you are substituting, so they know that you will be late home or you require a late pickup. The scheduled games are at the end of this letter. Please let your PL know if you are not available so your patrol can organize substitutes well in advanced. It’s a great game to watch, so parents are welcome to spectate from the stage.
Boatwork – Boatwork is starting late this year and we have catch up to do so that the boats are ready to launch in May. The rota is attached, please turn up for your allocated slot. If you can’t make your allotted slot, you need to make it to another session (preferably the session where there is only one patrol scheduled). We keep attendance and expect all Scouts to do their fair share.
Badgework: At the Hall meetings, we will be focusing on Nautical Skills Badges for the rest of the winter season, but you can carry on with your skill badges yourselves. If you are ready for any assessments, please let us know. The syllabus for the Nautical Badges are on the Facebook page under the ‘files’ section.
Summer Camp (Nawaka) we have sent out a letter with details last week. Once you have decided if you are interested, you can drop in your deposit (Feb 21) and we will be having a meeting with parents to go through what is involved with this trip and to help start getting organised. We will be looking for a Parents Support group to take over fundraising for this event and other items. Please note that is your scout has not camped with the Scout Section, they must attend the June Camp in Powerscourt in advance of the summer camp.
Communications The attached calendar is for your planning, but may be subject to change. All activities will be confirmed and updated at each hall meeting. We also use Facebook for updates and the patrols/ ventures have their own What’s App groups.
