Dear Scouts, Ventures and Parents/Guardians,
This year, our troop will be attending Nawaka 2018, an international Jamboree for Sea Scouts held in the International Scout Centre in Zeewolde, the Netherlands.
This camp takes place from Monday 6th August – Wednesday 15th August 2018. We plan to travel by plane to the Netherlands, and camp for either 9 or 10 nights. Depending on flight times, we will either return to Dublin on the 15th or 16th of August 2018.
The approximate cost of this trip will be between €500 – €600 per person. This price is subject to change, depending on flights and our fundraising efforts. However, we do expect that the cost will be no more than €600.
We are restarting a Parent Support Group this year, part of whose function will be to fundraise for our troop and in particular for this trip. It is essential that all parents/guardians of scouts planning to attend the Jamboree commit to being involved with fundraising. We will be having our first planning meeting, end of February (date TBC).
So, in order to begin booking procedures for the trip, please let us know if you would like to attend the Jamboree by completing the slip below by Wednesday 21st February 2018 with a €100 deposit included.
This Jamboree is held once every 4 years. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with different troops from around the globe and is a great opportunity for adventure! For more information about the Jamboree, please visit https://nawaka.scouting.nl/en/.
