Congratulations to Sarah Mc Donagh, Rover & Kayaking instructor, who won the Liffey Descent in early October.
This is a 28km race down the Liffey and is the pinnacle of kayaking achievements. It was Sarah’s first time doing it and due to the very dry summer there was very little water on the river, making it a more challenging and grueling race than usual.
Sarah finished in a time of 2hrs 55 mins which is a lot more than usual but given the slow flow of the river it is in line with, and just ahead of, the other competitors! Sarah won by a good margin (7 minutes) and it is the first senior race that she has competed in, so this is quite an achievement. It is a very physically and mentally challenging race. Well done, Sarah.
